If you're into Asian fusion cuisine with a creative and still authentic flare, Best Quality Daughter is the place for you. BQD is popular and award winning for a reason and it is all worth the hype. Pay attention to their social media as they have seasonal specials that are absolutely incredible! They do tend to sell out so make reservations and go quickly. The ambiance of BQD is chic and eclectic at the same time with nods to Chinese and San Antonio culture. I love the wallpaper and use of pink throughout the restaurant. The service is always top notch, with friendly hostesses and waitstaff. If you have any questions about their menu offerings, they are happy to help answer all of your questions. On this trip, we opted out of alcoholic drinks, but I do high recommend their cocktails as you won't find anything like them in the area. I personally love their boozy boba options! Their non-alcoholic Thai Lemonade and Iced Jasmine Black Tea are also tasty and we went for those for lunch. I love the family style and small plates options BQD has and today we split the chicken cashew dish, garlicky noodles, and tried their young bamboo small plate. The bamboo was like a pickled, kimchi-esque dish that was refreshing and full of flavorful. Definitely unique but worth the try! The chicken cashew is delectable- you can taste the char from the wok and the sauce mixed with the grilled onion and cilantro pair so well together. It is an elevated version of the classic Chinese meal. The garlicky noodles are a must every time we go and they did not disappoint. If you love garlic, you will love these noodles. While we didn't get them this trip, the Brussels sprouts are also one of my favorites at BQD. You truly cannot go wrong with any of their options. It is highly encouraged to make reservations regardless of the time or day of the week. We love to go to BQD when we visit the Pullman Market or the Pearl Farmers Market that happens every weekend.

I was finally able to try this place and I'm so glad I did. The restaurant is gorgeous, it has a great laid back vibe and the service is super friendly. The mochi cheddar hush puppies were out of this world. I've never had anything like that before, they have great texture and they're packed with flavor. We also had some cucumber, Tom yum noodles, and cashew chicken and everything was exceptional. The dessert is not to be missed. Overall an outstanding dining experience, can't wait to go back and try more items.

This place is doing everything right. We were welcomed, prompt drink service, hot dishes delivered as they were ready, family style. Everything was so flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The veggie dishes were my absolute favorite, but everything we ordered was delicious. I'd make sure I tasted the fried chicken, hush puppies, green beans (!!!!!!!!!!), Brussels sprouts and cucumber salad. The desserts were so so cute and the main star in both is their homemade ice cream. I wish I had a mango one right now!

What a cute restaurant, love the wallpaper and overall vibe! I ordered the cashew chicken and the super garlicky noodles, which were a perfect complement to the meal. They have an interesting mochi appetizer that's on my radar for my next visit. Situated in the Pearl district of San Antonio, this Chinese American restaurant delivers a great combination of solid food, great ambiance and friendly service!

Okay this place was so good that I started taking photos and then forgot because I was so focused on the food! Loved EVERYTHING. The green beans here are amazing, I could probably just order that and be happy. I highly recommend coming in a group and sharing everything. The staff is really friendly and they bring out the food pretty fast. It gets pretty busy so make a reservation. Can't wait to come back!

We had the pleasure of dining at Best Quality Daughter in the Pearl area of San Antonio. This restaurant has been recognized as one of the top 10 places to try by USA Today in 2022, and it's easy to see why. Chef Jennifer Dobbert, a second-generation Chinese American, is a semifinalist for Best Chef: Texas in this year's James Beard Awards. Her passion for Asian-American cuisine shines through in every dish. The restaurant itself is housed in a beautifully refurbished 1904 home, featuring four distinct dining rooms adorned with bright colors, neon, and custom wallpaper depicting San Antonio landmarks. The atmosphere is lively and inviting, making it the perfect setting for our first night in town. We started our meal with several vegan options, including mochi cheddar hush puppies, marinated bamboo, and impossible pot stickers. While we're not typically fans of vegan food, these dishes were an exception. The mochi hush puppies were out of this world, with a crispy exterior giving way to a creamy, cheesy center. Ernie likened them to fried cheese curds, and we both agreed they were delicious. The marinated bamboo was another standout, with its tangy, slightly sour flavor and subtle kick of heat. We appreciated the absence of fiberousness often found in traditional bamboo shoots. The shared plates were equally impressive. The flash-fried salt-and-pepper shrimp was a highlight, with its spicy chiles and scallions adding a burst of flavor to each bite. The Wok Charred Green Beans were perfectly cooked in the wok, with fermented black bean sauce and pickled mustard greens adding depth and complexity to the dish. Finally, the Pork Belly Ssam (Ssam means "wrap" in Korean) was a showstopper, with its tender, caramelized pork belly served with organic bib lettuce, Thai basil, cilantro, scallions, pickled bean sprouts, and a savory sauce made with fish sauce, lime, scallion, and chilies. Throughout the meal, we were impressed by Chef Dobbert's creativity and attention to detail. Each dish was carefully crafted to showcase the best of Asian-American cuisine, with bold flavors and textures that left us wanting more. P.S. Who knows what inspired the name of the restaurant? No googling. My date knew. I had no clue.

Best Quality Daughter is a culinary masterpiece housed in a charming historical home, creating an ambiance that is both unique and inviting. The restaurant's eclectic Asian fusion menu is a delightful adventure for the palate, offering a variety of gluten and dairy-free options that are both considerate and delicious. The entrees are nothing short of amazing, with each dish crafted to perfection, bursting with innovative flavors and fresh ingredients. Their non alcoholic drinks are equally impressive, providing a perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess. For a dining experience that combines historical charm with exceptional food, Heritage Fusion Bistro is an absolute must-visit. The highlight of our meal was the salt and pepper shrimp. The lunch specials are good priced and you get just the right amount of food to fill you up. I will recommend this place to family and friends as much as possible!

I had a coworker from out of town visiting and I wanted him to visit The Pearl area so we decided on @bestqualitydaughter for dinner Tuesday. Happy hour is until 6pm and we made it in time. Dad had the Butterfly Pea Flower Lemonade, I had Nightshades, Hubby had Are you there God? It's me Margarita, and Artie had In the Mood for Love. All the food was served family style so we all shared. Taiwanese Popcorn Fried Chicken, Pork Belly Ssam, Creamy Coconut Tom Yum Noodles, and Cashew Chicken. We tried the Green Beans but it didn't work out. Blake and the management was so kind not to charge us and then gave us complimentary dessert - Mango Sticky Rice ice cream sandwich. The pork belly was my favorite and it was cooked for 12 hours. You can definitely tell the amount of love poured into that dish.
